This is getting to be a disturbing pattern for Barack Obama.
A radical association from his past comes to light and he minimizes the relationship. Additional information is gathered showing him to have much more extensive contact with the radical than he originally said, thus proving the candidate to be a liar.
End result? Media silence and the story is buried.
Today's revelations come via Rezkowatch where they quote a World Net Daily story that shows Obama had a close, personal relationship with radical professor and Palestinian apologist Rashid Khalidi.
The issue came up at a recent campaign stop in Florida where a voter asked Obama about the nature of his relationship with Khalidi:
"You mentioned Rashid Khalidi, who's a professor at Columbia," Obama said. "I do know him because I taught at the University of Chicago. And he is Palestinian. And I do know him and I have had conversations. He is not one of my advisors; he's not one of my foreign policy people. His kids went to the Lab school where my kids go as well. He is a respected scholar, although he vehemently disagrees with a lot of Israel's policy."
But then Obama pushed back, launching a broader defense of his associations, while acknowledging that some past relationships have caused people in the Jewish community concerns.
"To pluck out one person who I know and who I've had a conversation with who has very different views than 900 of my friends and then to suggest that somehow that shows that maybe I'm not sufficiently pro-Israel, I think, is a very problematic stand to take," he said. "So we gotta be careful about guilt by association."
But just what is the nature of his association?
According to a professor at the University of Chicago who said he has known Obama for 12 years, the Democratic presidential hopeful befriended Khalidi when the two worked together at the university. The professor spoke on condition of anonymity. Khalidi lectured at the University of Chicago until 2003 while Obama taught law there from 1993 until his election to the Senate in 2004.
Sources at the University told WND that Khalidi and Obama lived in nearby faculty residential zones and that the two families dined together a number of times. The sources said the Obama's even babysat the Khalidi children.
Khalidi in 2000 held what was described as a successful fundraiser for Obama's failed bid for a seat in the U.S. House of Representatives, a fact not denied by Khalidi, who spoke to WND in February.
When is the media going to get wise to Obama's game? Trying to square what Obama told the crowd in Florida with what was revealed by WND can't be done. The candidate is obviously trying to minimize his problematic friendship with yet another radical. And he is being allowed to do this by a press that can't be oblivious to the shocking extent of Obama's association with extremists.
Note also that Obama called Khaladi a "respected scholar" - just like William Ayers - as if this washed away a litany of other sins. Perhaps Obama believes that teachers are immune from criticism.
Ayers, Dohrn, Wright, Meeks, Khaladi - and those are just the radicals we know of. There is something about radical ideology or personalities that attracts Barack Obama. And we better find out what it is before we elect him president.

What is it about Democratic presidential candidates and terrorists? Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton were each famously supportive of ur-terrorist Yassar Arafat. Carter, whose administration never had a discouraging word for Arafat, to this day is carrying water for Hamas, and the most frequent foreign visitor to the Clinton Whitehouse was Arafat.
Hillary showed her undying adoration with her famous embrace of Suha Arafat, currently living in Paris off the stolen billions of Palestinian aid money her turbaned hubby weaseled away from US taxpayers and gullible trans-national organizations. And what about those pardons for FALN terrorists? What was that about? (Here is a complete list of Clinton's pardons-drug dealers, bank robbers, terrorists, counterfeiters, money launderers, bank fraud specialists...all upstanding citizens no doubt, caught up somehow in over-zealous prosecutions.) Al Gore, while never publicly endorsed Ted "The Unabomber" Kaczynski, the almost identical texts of the Unabomber's "Manifesto" and Gore's book "Earth in the Balance" are startling. (Go here to take the fun challenge of detecting which quote is from which document).
And while the no one on the left had anything to say about the domestic eco-terrorists the FBI recently crushed, Bill Clinton openly bragged after the 1996 elections that the Oklahoma City Bombing and the liberal media chorus cinched his re-election:
Clinton openly boasted to reporters after his 1996 re-election that the liberal media scenario for the Oklahoma City bombing (that it was all the work of angry white "right-wingers" goaded by talk radio) turned the tide for him. In fact, I remember liberal media people I talked to at the time who were rubbing their hands with glee at that perceived political angle in all this.
And now of course, thanks to Stanley Kurtz, we find revealed the intimate connection -- whatever denials the Obama campaign attempts -- of Barack Obama and William Ayers, founder of the late 1960's Weather Underground group, responsible for hundreds of bombings, multiple attempted murders, and two accomplished murders to their "credit". All defiantly owned and unapologized for, by the way. Recall that several of Obama's campaign offices proudly displayed that way cool poster of Che Guevara, Casto's trigger man.
So, what's the deal with Democratic Presidents and hopefuls connecting so soulfully with terrorists? It appears the Saul Alinsky hard left has had a gun to the ribs of the more moderate wing of the party for some time, and over time, especially with the advent of the nutroots blogosphere and the ascendancy of the Nancy and Harry Show on Capital Hill, radicals fueled with Soros money have become more and more influential as they have been mainstreamed by the boys and girls of the press.
As Bob Dylan wrote, you don't need a weatherman to tell you which way the wind is blowing (from the song that inspired the name that romantic band of crazy kids took for themselves). And as John Locke before him put it, in language picked up by Thomas Jefferson in the Declaration, when a long Train of Actings show the Councils all tending one way, how can a man any more hinder himself from being persuaded in his own mind which way things are going...?
So, the prevailing winds have been leftward, despite the freshet that was the Reagan Revolution. The revelation of this season's Democratic candidate's relation to the hard left has had the effect of a termite inspector's flashlight aimed at the dark underground places no one has been paying attention to these past decades. Turns out all our institutions are infested with hard left radicals, and they have been busily destroying the foundations of our society from within. Maybe they have made their big move too soon, and the American public will recoil at the idea of radical leftists moving into the open in a presidential administration; in which case under the cover of darkness they will continue their slow but steady work of undermining the foundations.
If not, and they manage to get their candidate into the most visible office in the land, get ready for a wicked left turn, as the radicals pour out of the basement and into the rest of the building.

Recognize a name here among the beneficiaries of taxpayer dollars?
As Chicago (and Illinois, for that matter) reels from a fiscal crisis resulting in a cutback of services and layoffs of thousands, Mayor Daley spends many millions on public relations and image building.
One of the beneficiaries is Marilyn Katz. Where have I heard that name before? She is a bundler for Barack Obama, a person with a radical past (head of security for the Students for a Democratic Society-SDS-fromm which Bill Ayers' militant Weathermen group splintered).
She was also the prinicpal organizer of the now famous 2002 antiwar rally in which Barack Obama spoke against the Iraq War. And she serves on his finance committee as well as hosting fundraisers for him and donating thousands of dollars to the cause.
She traveled to the Democratic convention, serving as a member of the credentials committee. She has links to Bill Ayers . She makes herself readily available to provide spin to downplay the Ayers-Obama relationship (see today's superb Chicago Tribune article by the intrepid columnist John Kass):
One friend of Obama and Ayers is former '60s radical Marilyn Katz, now an Obama fundraiser, strategist and public relations maven. She's often a go-to quote for reporters to knock down the Ayers-Obama story.
"What Bill Ayers and [former Black Panther, now U.S. Rep.] Bobby Rush . . . did 40 years ago has nothing to do with [the presidential campaign]," Katz was quoted as saying in the Chicago Sun-Times in April. "[Ayers] has a national reputation. He lectures at Harvard [University] and Vassar [College]."
What that story and many other pro-Obama articles gloss over is that during the violent protests of the 1968 Democratic National Convention here, Katz was the security chief for the radical Students for a Democratic Society. She once advocated throwing studded nails in front of police cars, back in the SDS days when the group was alleged to have thrown cellophane bags full of human excrement at cops and cans of urine and golf balls impaled with nails.
How things change.
Under this Daley, her firm, MK Communications, has many city deals, and one involves public relations for the Chicago Police Department's community policing program. From nails to contracts, the Chicago Way. Apparently, irony was not a '60s thing.
Now, as Daley prepares to lay off more than 1,000 city workers, he's given Katz and other public relations firms five-year contracts that could pay them as much as $5 million each for consulting, advertising and promotion.
Getting in good with Daley hasn't been bad for business. She also lists as her clients Daley's Chicago Housing Authority, Daley's City Colleges, Daley's city Law Department, and Daley's Departments of Aviation, Environment, Housing, Human Services, Planning and Development, Public Health, Public Works, Streets and Sanitation, Intergovernmental Affairs, Special Events-the list goes on.
Fired workers-the little people? Services being shut down? Infrastructure crumbling? School kids ripped off?
Ahh..who cares..as long as the public realtions machine and image building can flourish in the hands of people who make it their job to create illusions and delusions?
