Bill Richardson and Obama, Corruption Eruptions, Part 2

Another sleazy Obama buddy, another scandal.

The real question is whether the constant drip and innuendo of political scandal that nips at the new administration will have any negative effect?

The latest Obama casualty is Gov. Bill Richardson of New Mexico, who was forced to withdraw his name for the cabinet position of Commerce Secretary.

The "Guv" is caught up in a pay-to-play scandal and is facing a federal grand jury investigation into whether he exchanged government contracts for contributions to three Richardson political committees.

Said the "Guv:" Let me say unequivocally that I and my administration have acted properly in all matters and that this investigation will bear out that fact. But I have concluded that the ongoing investigation also would have forced an untenable delay in the confirmation process."

How Nice!!

The story continues below...

Naturally our paragon of judgement, the president-elect, knew nothing of this, just as he didn't know anything about Bloggy, Ayes, Wright, Rezko, Khalidi, et al.

Obama said he was accepting Richardson's request to withdraw with "deep regret" and provided the usual bromides when informed of Richardson's decision:

"It is a measure of his willingness to put the nation first that he has removed himself as a candidate for the Cabinet in order to avoid any delay in filling this important economic post at this critical time. I look forward to his future service to our country and in my administration."

Where...from jail?

We at Neville figure that with an 82% approval rating going in Obama can skate along with the same lame excuses for about a year or so and the Obama drones along with the media will provide cover.

So it's back to our original question: will the constant drip and innuendo of political scandal that nips at the new administration will have any negative effect? And will he be able to effectively govern now that he actually has real problems to solve and can't vote "present".
  • The U.S. economy is in the tank, however after years of talking down the economy look for rosie predictions from the media now.
  • Vladimir Putin has cut off natural gas supplies to Ukraine and the Russian bear is coming out of hibernation
  • The Israelis are kicking butt in Gaza and, for now, the Dems are actually supporting Israel. Hamas is angry with Obama.
[We at Neville do not, for one second, believe the sudden concern and support for Israel expressed by the Democrats. This surge of pragmatic "patriotism", after years of indifference and hostility to all things military during the Bush administration, is purely a play to not alienate the millions of misguided liberal Jews that voted for our new "Fraudinator-in-Chief". After giving a press conference a day just before the holidays Obama's silence on the Israeli military action in Gaza speaks volumes]
  • Iran and N. Korea are building nuclear bombs
  • Iraq and Afghanistan are still on the menu
