By now you've seen the videos of the sting operation conducted by two young and enterprising journailists. The story was broken at Andrew Breitbart's BigHollywood.com. Posing as
a pimp and prostitute at a Baltimore ACORN office James O'Keefe and Hannah Giles were applying for a government loan to set up a brothel and import 13 underage
sex workers. The two ACORN workers were very helpful in advising them on job codes and tax avoidance. They advised:
Don't file new tax returns after initially filing
Instead of using 'prostitute' as a job description use the term perfomance artist because there is a code for that
Claim three of the thirteen underagers as dependants...the rest would be house guests.
ACORN said they were the victims of a smear (so did Van Jones after he was booted out). "The portrayal is false and defamatory and an attempt at 'gotcha journalism,' " said ACORN spokesliar Scott Levenson. After they could no longer keep that nonsense going they fired the two ACORN workers.
Levenson also described past election fraud on the Glenn Beck show as "We had a bad employee. What I'm asking you to believe as I would ask you to believe with any major corporation that has employee theft. Out of 13,000 employees, we had a few bad apples.
ACORN seems to be constantly victimized by "bad apples". Levenson is pathetic.
When will black people realize that ACORN is a 'plantation' organization, run by a few rich white people. It uses, and uses up, unskilled black workers on the street level. When they are no longer needed they are thrown out with the trash.
Blacks are being lied to by ACORN, the Lefists, the Democrats. They have been lied to for the past 50 years. ACORN and the Democrats have done nothing for them. The progressive/liberal agenda is a classic Leftist con.
Not much else to say other than ACORN is a criminal opganization. They are under indictment in at least eleven states for voter registration fraud.
On September 7, 2009 eleven more ACORN workers were arrested in Florida for election fraud.
A little more background on ACORN since the ascendency of our Fraudinator-in-Chief:
ACORN has received $54 million in taxpayer money since 1994. The $787B economic stimulus bill enacted in February contains $3 billion that the "non-profit" agitiator group ACORN could receive, and 2010 federal budget contains another $5.5 billion that could also find its way into the group's coffers.
ACORN spokesliar Scott Levenson said "we have received no significant federal funding. If you listen to some of the Republicans who are going to get a billion dollars from the stimulus package, I'm still waiting for my share. Their claims are overinflated, this is a gimmick and an attempt to demonize ACORN."
Rep. Michelle Bachmann, R-MN, wants to stop the flow of tax dollars to ACORN, but House Financial Services Committee Chairman Barney Frank, D-MA, has consistently blocked any attempts to defund ACORN.
ACORN's fraudulent activities don't stop with elections. They have been involved with bank shakedowns. Through the Community Development ACT (CRA) run by Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac and overseen by Barney Frank banks have been "encouraged" to make sub-prime loans to poor people (mainly blacks) who can't afford mortgages.
The enforcement arm of this scam has been ACORN
whose tactic has been to picket banks and the homes of bank executives in order to embarrass them. Banks make the loans as "go away" money in order to get ACORN to stop. The more mortgages written the richer Fannie and Freddie execs like Obama and Clinton crony Franklin Raines got. The homeowner inevitably defaults and the banks are left holding the bag.
This practice led to the housing crash and financial collapse of 2008.
The recent Congressional report accusing ACORN of engaging in fraud and a scheme to use taxpayer money to support a partisan political agenda. The report was released by Rep. Darrell Issa, the top Republican on the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, and Issa's GOP colleagues.
Specifically, the report makes the following criminal allegations:
ACORN has evaded taxes, obstructed justice, engaged in self-dealing, and aided and abetted a cover-up of embezzlement by Dale Rathke, the brother of ACORN founder Wade Rathke.
ACORN has committed investment fraud, deprived the public of its right to honest services, and engaged in racketeering affecting interstate commerce.
ACORN has committed a conspiracy to defraud the United States by using taxpayer funds for partisan political activities.
ACORN has submitted false filings to the Internal Revenue Service and the Department of Labor, in addition to violating the Fair Labor Standards Act.
ACORN falsified and concealed facts concerning an illegal transaction between related parties in violation of the Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974.
The stink is bad enough that some congressional Democrats have taken notice. At a March 19 hearing on election problems, Michigan Rep. John Conyers, chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, pressed New York Rep. Gerald Nadler, chairman of the Subcommittee on the Constitution, Civil Rights and Civil Liberties, to hold a hearing on Acorn. He called the charges against it "serious." Mr. Nadler agreed to consider the request.
Mr. Nadler's office now says there will be no hearing on Acorn because Mr. Conyers has changed his mind. Mr. Conyers's office released a statement on Monday saying that after reviewing "the complaints against Acorn, I have concluded that a hearing on this matter appears unwarranted at this time." A Democratic staffer told me he believes the House leadership put pressure on Mr. Conyers to back down. Mr. Conyers's office says it is "unaware" of any contacts with House leaders.
Then there's Barney Frank, the chairman of the House Financial Services Committee. Last month, he voted for a committee amendment (to the Mortgage Reform and Anti-Predatory Lending Act) by Rep. Michelle Bachmann (R., Minn.) to block groups indicted for voter fraud from receiving federal housing or legal assistance grants. Identical language was passed into law in the Housing and Economic Recovery Act of 2008. Mr. Frank now says he "had not read [the amendment] carefully" before backing it. He gutted the amendment on Thursday, claiming that the language Congress passed just last year is "a violation of the basic principles of due process."
When asked why the investigation was being dropped Rep. Conyers replied "The powers that be decided against it." Which powers...Barney Frank?, Rahm Emanuel?, Barack Obama?
Also from John Fund:
Acorn's relationship to the Obama campaign is a matter of public record. Last year, Citizens Consulting Inc., the umbrella group controlling Acorn, was paid $832,000 by the Obama campaign for get-out-the-vote efforts in key primary states. In filings with the Federal Election Commission, the campaign listed the payments as "staging, sound, lighting," only correcting them after reporters from the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review revealed their true nature.
Mr. Obama distanced himself from the group's scandals last year, saying "We don't need Acorn's help." Nevertheless, he got his start as a community organizer at Acorn's side. In 1992, he headed a registration effort for Project Vote, an Acorn partner at the time. In 1995, he represented Acorn in a key case upholding the new Motor Voter Act -- the very law whose mandated postcard registration system Acorn workers use to flood election offices with bogus registrations.
As with the Van Jones story, the mainstream media is ignoring another story that is damaging to the Obama administration. They have so much invested in this nothing of a president they are
willing to give up marketshare to Fox News in order to prop up a fraud. GE/NBC is a lost cause entirely. They are so far up the colon of the Obama administration with the green agenda that we will never hear a discouraging word from them.
What about CBS, ABC, the New York Times and the Washington Post? Where is the modern day Woodward and Bernstein of the mainstream media? We at Neville can only conclude the payoffs are involved. There is not enough white guilt in the world that would keep
journalists from going after this string of Pulitzer stories.
The latter day 'Woodsteins' are now working in the alternative media: Breitbart, O'Keefe, the bloggers and talk radio. The mainstream media is irrelevant. No wonder liberals want to shut down or control talk radio and the internet.
A particlularly cheesy statement from Margaret Williams, Board Member, Maryland ACORN attempted to defend the indefensible:
Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now
Statement from Margaret Williams, Board Member, Maryland ACORN
September 10, 2009
Fox's attempt to smear ACORN Thursday September 10, 2009 is despicable, part of a coordinated, long-term campaign by Fox to damage ACORN, the premiere community organization of low- and moderate-income people in the United States. Every day ACORN members are working for health care reform, living wage jobs, to end the foreclosure crisis, and to strengthen our public schools. For its part, Fox is running a campaign to demonize ACORN. They will get attention, but they will not succeed.
In July 2009, Fox agents attempted to enter ACORN offices in New York, in Philadelphia, in San Diego, in Los Angeles, and possibly other locales. In each case they were turned away, and in Philadelphia ACORN staff were concerned enough that a police report was filed. In Baltimore, the Fox squad deceived ACORN staff by consistently misrepresenting their intentions. No tax returns were filed and no assistance was provided. But the ACORN personnel in question have been terminated because their handling of the Fox agents provocateurs did no meet ACORN's standards of professionalism.
The larger pattern of Fox's irresponsible actions here is the real news. From Glenn Beck calling President Obama a racist, to Fox inciting racism and threats of violence with the Teaparties, to Fox unleashing a hit job on ACORN the day after an inspiring Presidential healthcare speech before Congress, Fox has long since abandoned any journalistic pretense. It is clear and not coincidence that FOX continues to attack and divide our nation along racial lines. We believe our country is beyond this type of attack and call on all Americans to demand that FOX stop its racist coverage.
