Barack Houssien Obama has referred to his former pastor of 20 years, Dr. Jeremiah A. Wright, as “an old uncle who says things I don’t always agree with”.
Yet he chose not to leave that church.
Instead he honored his continued association by:
Calling the "reverend" his spiritual advisor and mentor
Having the "reverend" marry Barack and Michelle
Having the "reverend" baptize their daughters
Inspiring the title of one of his books -- The Audacity of Hope
Not speaking out when his church gave Louis Farrakhan a lifetime achievement award
We at The Neville Awards are hard-pressed to discern the difference stylistcally and in content between the Wright's Trinity Church style of anti-semitic/anti-U.S./anti-white/socialist African liberation theology garbage
and Louis Farrakhan's Nation of Islam anti-semitic/anti-U.S./anti-white/socialist African liberation theology garbage.
Now that the good reverend has been outed as a garden variety race hustler, America hater and Farrakhan wannabe here is just a sampling of the bile that spews forth on Church Sundays:
"The government gives them the drugs, builds bigger prisons, passes a three-strike law and then wants us to sing 'God Bless America.' No, no, no, God damn America, that's in the Bible for killing innocent people. God damn America for treating our citizens as less than human. God damn America for as long as she acts like she is God and she is supreme."
"[Sept. 16, 2001. Five days after 9-11]We bombed Hiroshima, we bombed Nagasaki, and we nuked far more than the thousands in New York and the Pentagon, and we never batted an eye.
"We have supported state terrorism against the Palestinians and black South Africans, and now we are indignant because the stuff we have done overseas is now brought right back to our own front yards. America's chickens are coming home to roost.
And they will not only attack you if you try to point out what's going on in white America, the U.S. of KKK A.
"Barack knows what it means living in a country and a culture that is controlled by rich white people. Hillary would never know that. Hillary ain't never been called a nigger. Hillary has never had a people defined as a non-person."
"Hillary is married to Bill, and Bill has been good to us. No he ain't! Bill did us, just like he did Monica Lewinsky. He was riding dirty.
"The government lied about inventing the HIV virus as a means of genocide against people of color. The government lied."

So-called "Black Liberation Theology" [read Marxism for the aggrieved black minority] has it's roots in the teachings of "Theologian" James Cone. He claims Jesus Christ to be a "black messiah" and blacks as "the true chosen people" who can only accept a god who facilitates the destruction the "white enemy."
"If God is not for us and against white people then he is a murderer, and we had better kill him. The task of black theology is to kill gods who do not belong to the black community."
"Christ is black therefore not because of some cultural or psychological need of black people, but because and only because Christ really enters into our world where the poor were despised and the black are, disclosing that he is with them enduring humiliation and pain and transforming oppressed slaves into liberating servants."
"Black theology refuses to accept a God who is not identified totally with the goals of the black community. If God is not for us and against white people, then he is a murderer, and we had better kill him. The task of black theology is to kill gods who do not belong to the black community."
"... Black theology will accept only the love of God which participates in the destruction of the white enemy. What we need is the divine love as expressed in Black Power, which is the power of black people to destroy their oppressors here and now by any means at their disposal. Unless God is participating in this holy activity, we must reject his love."
In response to the "Wright-rants" Obama offered a namby-pamby comment that sounds like it was focus-group tested:
Sen. Obama told the New York Times he was not at the church on the day of Rev. Wright's 9/11 sermon. "The violence of 9/11 was inexcusable and without justification. It sounds like he was trying to be provocative". Sen. Obama declined to comment on Rev. Wright's denunciations of the United States, but campaign religious adviser, Shaun Casey, appearing on "Good Morning America", said Obama "had repudiated" those comments.
“Senator Obama has said before that he profoundly disagrees with some of the statements and positions of Reverend Wright, who has preached his last sermon as pastor at the church,” Obama campaign spokesman Bill Burton said. “Senator Obama deplores divisive statements whether they come from his supporters, the supporters of his opponent, talk radio, or anywhere else.”
Oh...OK. That explains everything. We feel better already.
What a profile in political courage. It reminds us of CAIR's "condemnation" of terrorism "in all it's forms". Actually Barack's in a bit of a pickle. How do you suddenly throw your favorite pastor, advisor, mentor of 20 years under the bus now that you are
running for president and you have to appeal to white folks that aren't liberal and guilt-ridden. You can't without looking like a hypocrite. Wright's hate speech also explains much of
Michell's anger, hatred and bitterness toward the U.S.
This doesn’t mean that Obama agrees with Wright’s thoroughgoing and conspiracy-heavy anti-Americanism. Rather, Obama seems to have seen, early in his career, the utility of joining a prominent church that would help him establish political roots in the community in which he lives. Now he sees the utility of distancing himself from that church. Obama’s behavior in dealing with Wright is consistent with that of a politician who often voted “present” in the Illinois State Legislature for the sake of his future political viability.
The more you learn about him, the more Obama seems to be a conventionally opportunistic politician, impressively smart and disciplined, who has put together a good political career and a terrific presidential campaign. But there’s not much audacity of hope there. There’s the calculation of ambition, and the construction of artifice, mixed in with a dash of deceit — all covered over with the great conceit that this campaign, and this candidate, are different.
[Neville's Note on March 16: As of late Friday March 14 Obama’s campaign announced that the minister, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright Jr., had left its spiritual advisory committee...hmmm, now why would anyone need a spriritual advisory committee?]
Apart from ABC's Brian Ross breaking the story the dinosaur media has been silent on this subject, hoping it will go away.
"Reverend" Wright is still officially attached to the Obama campaign as of this writing. However, when Geraldine Ferraro dared to suggest the following the usual suspects went ballistic...the Clinton campaign bowed the to the PC gods and Ferraro was forced to resign:
"If Obama was a white man, he would not be in this position. And if he was a woman (of any color) he would not be in this position. He happens to be very lucky to be who he is. And the country is caught up in the concept".
Predictably there has been no such outrage from from the leftwing press regarding the good reverend's sermons. Just excuses. Obviously to expose the good reverend might de-rail all of the media's well-laid plans for November.
